New Player Guide (For Returning RO Players)

Welcome to Einherjar! This guide is meant to be a brief jumpstart for people already familiar with Ragnarok Online but new to the server. If you're totally new, I would recommend you check out Mitsune's Newbie Guide (http://home.projecteinherjar.com/wiki/index.php/Newbie_Guide)

It is highly recommended that you go through the tutorial for an easy path to Job Level 10. Advance until you get to the section where you are asked to use the teleporter to the training grounds (Lunar Fields.) On this map you can test out a small starter selection of 1st job skills by talking to the various NPCs (a representative will be on the map for most jobs including Einherjar's custom ones.) Each will also offer a simple quest that can be immediately done on that map. Doing so will give you a character-bound box with a starting set of gear, ornaments, and runes for that job (more on the latter two later.) You can't open the box on any job but the one it's intended for, but you can sell any extra boxes you acquire for some starting zeny.

Once you've hit JLV10, talk to the NPC to get warped to the town that your selected job's 1st job change quest begins.

This begs the question, of course, of "what job should I start with?" And as always the expected answer will be "whatever you want to play!" Leveling on Einherjar is deceptively easy despite it being a low rate server on paper; because of the floating rates the actual true rates fluctuate from 3x to 6x, going up to 9x on the weekends, and both repeatable kill quests and the Bounty Board missions greatly relax the grind's difficulty. In addition, if you're an RO veteran, I would highly recommend trying something new and picking one of the custom jobs - they're Einherjar's strongest feature and will give you a new experience!

If you're looking for more guidance, though, the following suggestions are mainly geared at people who have no strong preference in playstyle and are looking for an efficient job that gets going out of the gate with minimal gear investment. This is strongly biased to ranged options as they simply get away with needing less stuff to survive.

Sniper - Still as fantastic as it was in vanilla with little investment. Kill things before they reach you. Access to all elements - just do the Arrow Crafting quest. Double Strafe efficiently carries you for ages and Ankle Snare in 2nd job lets you fight things far beyond normal reach. At trans, Sharpshooting is still one of the best aoe ranged attacks in the game.

Arcane - Swiss army knife elemental mage/support hybrid. Simply having access to both Heal (even capped at L5) and ranged elemental spells makes you incredibly resilient and self-sustainable soloing. Spells have no ACD, cast quickly even with minimal Dex, and you have all elements available. At 2nd job they gain a spell combo system where a simple loop (involving Grants) full heals them regularly, and in trans they gain a powerful mini-Assumptio spell (Ymir's Flare.) Just note that their range is short compared to Wizards, and they have no aoe, so you will be up close and personal.

Shogun - 1st job will be a little rough, as you're essentially a slightly fancier Swordsman (Wild Swing is good aoe and Heal Wounds make the starting levels less rough.) But you'll have access to the prime elements which helps, and 2nd job gives you a fantastic mobbing option (Sword Quake) and some badly needed sustain for melee. Trans ramps the sustain to absurd levels, making you a mobbing machine that stays up by killing more enemies. Try to find a decent high-weight 2H sword ASAP like Atroce Weapon and that's really all you need to carry you for ages.

Channelor - Buffer with mostly short-range single target magic DPS. Having access to only normal and ghost elements at first will limit your leveling options a bit, but once you hit 2nd job you can get hard carried by Illusionary Blade. After trans you can just nuke stuff hard with Divines Wrath, and support others with your ludicrous buffs. No aoe beyond Spirit Bomber however.

Once you've settled with your job selection,
